PART e-VAN heads to Berlin

Nissan fits out e-NV200 electric CV with party accoutrements.

Here's one that was clearly thought up by someone who saw the opportunity for a good pun - the Nissan electric commercial vehicle, the e-NV200, has been turned into a machine capable of putting on a good time.

The result? The PART e-VAN. Yes, yes; very good, Nissan.

This banging beat-box of a van entertained fans outside the Olympiastadion ahead of the UEFA Champions League final, before it embarked on a tour of Europe, taking in the Le Mans 24 Hours this coming week.

Some of the PART e-VAN's (no, it doesn't get any better the more times you see the words) unique features include a glitter ball solar panel roof array, which absorbs enough energy from sunlight to power the on-board systems, a custom-made sound set-up capable of silent discos (not as daft as it sounds - it just means the tunes are broadcast to an audience wearing wireless headphones, thus allowing the dancing to continue beyond any noise curfews) and an 'augmented reality system where users will be able to jump into their own party scene before sharing it with friends on social media'. Whatever that means.

There's also a cocktail maker supplying (sigh) 'electric-inspired' drinks, a fridge, a six-metre high light-up canopy and an LED dance floor to the rear of the PART e-VAN.

Bastien Schupp, vice president of Marketing for Nissan Europe, said: "The PART e-VAN sums up what Nissan is all about - innovation and excitement for everyone. And silent disco capabilities what better place to showcase the ultimate party van, than the UEFA Champions League Final, one of the greatest sporting events on the planet?"

And no, it's not April 1st.
