What's the news?
The Dacia revolution continues unabated with the Logan MCV being the third model introduced to the Irish market by Renault's low-cost division in just over a year. Essentially a Sandero estate, the Logan offers everything the Sandero supermini does but with a 573-litre load space to boot. Order books for this Maximum Capacity Vehicle (for that is what MCV stands for - oh good, another acronym to remember) have now opened with prices starting from €11,190.

For your money you will receive a 1.2-litre petrol powered car in Alternative trim that includes steel wheels, roof bars (for when the MCV is not maximum enough), Bluetooth, USB connectivity, a CD player, electric front windows and a full safety pack including ABS, EBD, ESC and ASR (look them up if you must, but they essentially help you keep this powerhouse under control).

Signature trim (available from €13,190) brings with it 15-inch alloys, front fog lights, cruise control, air conditioning and electric rear windows. Signature cars also feature a classier interior with graphite trim pieces and leather for the steering wheel and gear knob.

Like the Sandero on which it is based the Logan MCV is available with a choice of three engines starting with the 75hp 1.2-litre petrol unit delivers 5.8 litres/100km (48.7mpg) and emissions of 135g/km for Band B2 road tax of €280 per year.

This is joined by the turbocharged TCe 90 petrol engine from the current Clio. The 900cc unit uses petrol at a rate of 5.0 litres/100km (56.5mpg) while its emissions of 116g/km make for low tax of just €200. If you prefer your Maximum Capacity Vehicle diesel powered Dacia offers the 1.5-litre dCi 90 with sub-100g/km making for road tax of €180 a year and an official fuel consumption figure of just 3.8 litres/100km (74.3mpg).

Anything else?
In keeping with the Dacia ethos the options list for the Logan MCV is decidedly short with customers free to choose from Glacier White, Fire Red, Platinum Pearl Black, Sea Blue and Ash Grey paint - and little else beside.

As with the other Dacia models the Logan MCV comes with a three-year/100,000km warranty as standard, though this can be upped to a five-year/unlimited mileage package for an extra €369. The Logan is also available through Dacia Finance from €119 per month.
