Citroen reveals 'rugged' C1

Citroen will display the rugged C1 Urban Ride concept at next week's Paris Motor Show, to gauge public opinion.

What's new?
It would appear Opel was on to something with the jacked up city car that is the Adam Rocks. Or at least Citroen seems to think so as it prepares to unveil the C1 Urban Ride concept.

Set to be launched at the Paris Motor Show next week the Urban Ride is based on the recently released C1 (itself a stable mate of the Peugeot 108 and Toyota Aygo), but features suspension raised by 15mm, track extended by 10mm and all the faux-SUV plastic cladding one would expect.

Two versions will be in Paris: the regular five-door model and the open-top Airscape variant, which would allow buyers to get wind in their hair while off-roading. Well to an extent; the C1 does not feature a four-wheel drive drivetrain so the Urban Ride, as the name would suggest, has been designed for the urban jungle rather than the actual jungle.

Officially a concept, attendees at the show are being asked to vote on whether or not they would like to see the C1 Urban Ride make it to production, which is perhaps the best indication that the project has already received the greenlight.

Has Citroen anything else to show us?
If you are at the Paris Motor Show you may have to fight for a glimpse of the concept, as alongside the Urban Ride Citroen will be the already announced C4 Cactus Airflow, the DS Divine and two fashion-inspired DS 3 concepts. Paris is Citroen's home show after all.
