Thinking of getting an Infiniti Q70.

Hi Shane, I'm thinking of getting an Infiniti Q70. The only thing that is holding me back is servicing. I vaguely remember reading that the engine is essentially a Mercedes engine. Is this true and if so could I take it to a Mercedes dealer to be serviced

Our answer:

Hi David,

Although Infiniti does indeed use Mercedes diesel engines, as part of an engine and technology sharing agreement between the Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler-Benz, Infiniti doesn’t just unpack them from a crate and drop them in the car. The engine management setup is different, the software is different and the installation is slightly different. Parts would be interchangeable, but I doubt that the Mercedes diagnostic system would be able to ‘talk’ to the Infiniti software. Worth a try, but it probably won’t work. There is one Infiniti centre in Ireland, but it’s in Belfast (on Boucher Crescent, just off the M1) so that might work if you live in the north-eastern end of the country.
