How much will it cost me to register and pay taxes on my UK audi a4 2009 with 190 k mls on the clock
Hi David,
If you yourself are moving from the UK to Ireland permanently and you can prove that you've owned the car in the UK for over six months, then you should be able to claim 'Transfer of Residence' exemption from the usual taxes - i.e. VRT, VAT and customs duty.
If not, then VAT is 23 per cent of the price paid for the car and shipping it to Ireland. Customs duty is 10 per cent.
The VRT payable depends on the CO2 emissions and the Open Market Selling Price (OMSP) that Revenue deems the car to be worth in Ireland.
