Can I fit a child seat in my classic Merc?

Hi, I have a classic car ( a 1992 Mercedes SL convertible) with 2 bucket seats, with lap seatbelts in the back. Can my 3 year old daughter travel in those seats or must she use a booster or car seat? Car or booster seats are unlikely to fit or make secure I think, whereas sitting in the back bucket seat with a lap belt, she will be kept in place securely behind the passenger seat. Looking forward to hearing from you soon, Thanks D

Our answer:

Hi there,

The law states that your daughter must be in a suitable seat, so you're going to have to find a way to do that, really. Modifying the rear-seat belts might be an option, or you could seek out a used booster/child seat that can work with just a lap belt. They aren't sold any more, but they used to be.
