Considering downsizing to small petrol car (new or nearly new/low mileage) - Fiesta an option bu what else in same class category should I be looking at for mix of urban & rural driving ?

The best cars in the supermini class, in no particular order, are the Fiesta (good choice and that 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is terrific), Skoda Fabia (solid and sensible and very good resale value) and the Honda Jazz (pricey, but has huge space and is utterly reliable). Worth looking at the Toyota Yaris too, especially the hybrid if most of your mileage is in town.
